I really learnt a lot from substack. New Subscriber!!

But something has got me thinking is that can B2B replace monthly subscription model with a digital currency model (like games and Duolingo).

Where instead of paying monthly you purchase credits and spend these credits of features of their choice (creating the IKEA effect).

This could be a retention tool as customers may not want to leave if they still have some credits and they can see direct correlation between credit and use. They also do not get a direct cost of points since they do not pay real currency per upgrades.
